A 12-acre Center of Practical Arts for adults with special needs located in the heart of Phelan, CA.
The Dream
A day program specializing in practical arts education will allow participants to graduate into paid work at the facility or elsewhere. A 40-unit residential facility will allow independent adults with special needs to live in a unique community close to school, work, and downtown food and shopping. A gift shop and venue, along with demonstration gardens and a petting zoo, will connect the Cambria Promise to the community.
Center for the Arts
The heart of Cambria Promise is practical training in the arts. Ceramics, weaving, baking, gardening, animal husbandry, painting, video and audio, as well as culinary training are possible. Plans include a petting zoo and demonstration garden that will be open to the public.
Retail
A planned gift shop to sell items produced by the community, as well as a coffee shop, bakery, and performance venue will be built along Sheep Creek Rd., close to the current shopping areas.
Residential Community
The western third of the property is one large lot zoned for a 40-unit apartment development. High functioning adults with special needs would be eligible for subsized housing.
